I’m a writer based in Hamilton, Ontario. There were some website glitches in 2021 so this year Malcolm Lee and I are rebuilding the site from scratch. Latest updates:
In January, my latest book, The Medusa Deep, got a great review in Kirkus Reviews:
“Lee enhances his novel with references to the Lovecraft mythos [and] elements that smoothly tie into real-world events, including World War II. Nate’s no-nonsense attitude befits a worthy hero, but Lee gives him just enough snarkiness to make him a believable teenager. The author further invigorates this sequel with vibrant detail … a smashing cliffhanger sets up a potential third installment [of] this dark, ongoing adventure.” – Kirkus Reviews, Jan. 11, 2022
The Medusa Deep also made it on to the CBC’s list of Best Books of 2021, in the “Middle Grade and YA” category. The novel is the sequel to The Midnight Games (2015), in which a young man in Hamilton finds that the noisy late night gatherings in his local football stadium are actually rituals put on by a local cult that’s summoning to Earth the Great Old Ones of H.P. Lovecraft’s “Cthulhu Mythos.” The Midnight Games won a Hamilton Arts Council award for the book “that best conveys the spirit of Hamilton.”
There are other projects on the go for 2022. If all goes well and pandemic circumstances allow, February 25 to March 12 Chris Palmer and I will be onstage at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, providing music for Sky Gilbert’s latest play Pat and Skee. I hope to complete the third book of the Midnight Games trilogy this spring.
More will be added to this site as we rebuild. Thanks for visiting this site! You can use my contact page to get in touch with me.
